Former “Safe Money America” Host, Quite Ironically, Pleads Guilty to Alleged Securities Fraud

McManus, the former host of “Safe Money America,” a radio talk show broadcast on 700WLW in the Cincinnati area, is facing prison time after he pleaded guilty to alleged securities charges involving 18 victims, according to documents filed by the Ohio Department of Commerce currently being reviewed by attorneys Joe Peiffer and Alan Rosca.

The Ohio Department of Commerce documents also report that on November 20, McManus pleaded guilty in Butler County Common Pleas court to allegedly selling sale of securities without a license and selling unregistered securities, which are both second-degree felonies.

In the years 2010 and 2011, McManus allegedly sold promissory notes issued by North Shore Energy, LLC, an oil and gas drilling company located in Austin, Texas, to 18 investors primarily residing in southwestern Ohio, according to the records from the department of commerce which are under review presently by attorneys Alan Rosca and Joe Peiffer.

McManus, who has not held an active securities salesperson license in Ohio since September 2003, is looking at a reported possible prison sentence of 16 years and a maximum fine of $30,000.

As part of a plea agreement, McManus allegedly agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $2,251,712 to 18 investor victims.
